17
These entangled thoughts,
like fallen leaves fluttering;
they whisper among themselves,
full of joy.
18
You are what you do not see;
what you see is only your shadow.
19
My wishes are all foolish,
they roar and trouble my song,
my Master.
Let me listen quietly.
20
I cannot choose the best;
the best chooses me.
21
Bearing the lotus-lamp,
there is a shadow before me.
22
My being
forever leaves me astonished,
O life!
23
We, the dancing fallen leaves,
have a voice to answer the storm:
Why do you say nothing?
Because I am only a flower.
24
Rest belongs to work,
as the eyelids keep company with the eyes.
25
The grown man is born of the child;
his power to grow
is his strength.
26
God wants the flower's reply;
He sets me down here,
not for the sunlight, nor for the dust.
27
Light dances,
like a child,
passing joyfully through green leaves,
yet knowing nothing of those who lie.
28
O Beauty,
seek yourself in love;
do not fall into the mirror's flattery.
29
The waves of my heart beat upon the tide,
on the shore of the human world,
and with her tears write:
"I love you."
